I am pleased to welcome you to our website where
you can find all sorts of information about our parish and what
goes on here and who is involved. There is a tremendous core of
parishioners who give lively witness to their faith in all sorts
of different ways. Like most parishes we are becoming more
culturally diverse with new families joining us from Africa,
Asia and Eastern Europe. All are welcome here.
As I write this introduction we are still trying
to implement the suggestions raised during our parish project
last year. Some initiatives have taken place with the Family
group doing particularly well. Slower progress is being made in
forming the parish council but that is not necessarily a bad
thing. We look forward to two visits from the bishop who is
coming on visitation in May and then will return to celebrate
the Sacrament of Confirmation at the end of June. About 30 of
our parishioners will be joining the annual diocesan pilgrimage
to Lourdes at the end of July.. You can read more up to date
information about all these events by looking at the recent
newsletters There is much to look forward to and much to be
thankful for here in St Peter's
You will also
see that as a
Christian community we look beyond our own needs. St. Peter’s
has an ongoing reputation for being generous in responding to
human and spiritual need at home and overseas. We continue to
do this, in association with CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas
Development), and additional special projects during Advent and
Lent. We also try to support our local charity for the homeless
- The Wellspring - that is based in Stockport
The Website gives a flavour of the variety of
groups and activities in our Parish, our prayer and worship. To
find out what we are truly like, come and see for yourself. You
will be made very welcome and feel at home!
